The bedroom door that only latches if you lean your shoulder into it once winter arrives. The window that whistles whenever the wind picks up at night. Small things, but they repeat every day until they feel like part of the house. Door and window repair usually fixes them without replacing the door or the window itself.
Some go beyond annoying: a lock that sticks and could leave you standing outside your own apartment, or a window that won't shut properly with the dusty spring winds on their way. In winter, the gap under the balcony door lets in a draft that everyone in the living room can feel. Every day you put it off means more dust on the floor and a colder night.
Small annoyances worth fixing
- The door scrapes the floor or the frame, and you hear it before it closes.
- The key turns only with effort, or the lock sticks until you jiggle the door.
- The door has dropped on the hinge side, leaving a gap at the top on the opposite side.
- Gaps around a door or window that let in dust and drafts, with a thin line of light showing even when it's shut.
- The glass rattles in its frame when a truck goes by or on a windy day.
- A wooden shutter has warped and no longer closes flush.
- The roll-down shutter strap is frayed, or the shutter creeps down by itself.
Take a photo of the problem, or a short video of yourself opening and closing it, and attach it to the request. Once a technician accepts, you see their name and photo and can follow them on the map until they arrive. They check the problem in person and send a price in the app. If the price works for you, the visit fee is waived and you pay for the repair. If it doesn't, you pay only the visit fee.
What door and window repair covers
- Changing lock cylinders, or the whole lock if its mechanism is worn, and adding a deadbolt or a second lock to the front door.
- Adjusting hinges and alignment, and planing down an edge that rubs the floor or frame.
- Replacing broken or cracked glass, and securing panes that rattle in their frames.
- Fresh rubber seals for doors and windows, and a sweep under the balcony door to close the gap that lets the cold in.
- Old wooden shutters and window sashes that have warped or won't latch, plus loose handles and latches.
- Roll-down shutters: a new strap, or repairs to the roller tube and broken slats.
- Mosquito screens for windows and balcony doors.
